Use your own Anthropic key
Pay Anthropic directly for Tallyfy AI
Section titled “Pay Anthropic directly for Tallyfy AI”An administrator can add your organization’s own Anthropic API key1. All Tallyfy AI in your organization then runs on that key, and Anthropic bills you directly. Tallyfy doesn’t charge you for that AI use, and it doesn’t touch your free AI tier or AI credit.
Tallyfy accepts Anthropic keys only.
Add your key
Section titled “Add your key”- Go to Settings > AI > Your own key.
- Paste the key into Anthropic API key.
- Click Save.
Tallyfy checks the key with Anthropic before saving it, and the check doesn’t spend anything on your Anthropic account. Once the key is saved, the card shows “Anthropic key ending in” and its last 4 characters. That’s all of the key Tallyfy ever shows again. It’s stored encrypted, only Tallyfy’s servers read it, and it’s never sent to your browser.
If Anthropic doesn’t accept the key, you’ll see Anthropic rejected this key and nothing is saved. Check the key and try again. If Tallyfy can’t reach Anthropic to check it, nothing is saved either, so try again in a few minutes.
Only administrators see Settings > AI. It’s hidden while AI is turned off for your organization.
Replace or remove your key
Section titled “Replace or remove your key”- To replace it, click Replace, paste the new key and click Save.
- To remove it, click Remove, then Remove key to confirm. AI goes back to your free tier and AI credit, and you can add a key again at any time.
If Anthropic rejects your key later
Section titled “If Anthropic rejects your key later”If Anthropic stops accepting your key, AI stops for everyone in your organization. Tallyfy doesn’t switch to its own key, and it doesn’t fall back to your free tier or AI credit.
- Tallyfy AI shows a message that starts “Your Anthropic key was rejected”. It points administrators to their AI settings, and asks everyone else to contact their admin.
- Tallyfy emails each administrator once, with the subject “Anthropic rejected the AI key for” followed by your organization’s name.
- Settings > AI shows Anthropic no longer accepts this key, with a Replace button.
Replace the key to turn AI back on, or remove it to go back to your free tier and AI credit.
A request can also fail because your Anthropic account hit a usage limit you set there, or ran out of credit. That doesn’t count as a rejected key. Tallyfy AI says your organization’s Anthropic account refused the request, and an administrator can check the account’s limits and credit in the Anthropic Console.
See AI use on your key
Section titled “See AI use on your key”In the AI usage log, requests on your key show Your key under Paid by. Charged shows a dash, because Tallyfy doesn’t charge for them. Anthropic bills you for those requests.
