The best alternative to Sharepoint

I have always had headaches using the software in every job I’ve ever seen it used. It’s really among the worst in terms of sync issues. I don’t quite know the difference between OneDrive services and SP services. They seem to work together but file sharing is a mess and the inability to be consistent with the interface is an issue.

I have never seen a ‘proper’ implementation of the software and didn’t think that was even possible. To me, it has always been one of the clunkiest, worst conceived pieces of software MS has ever produced.

The software sites can be clunky. People think they need to find alternatives.

The software development is also a pain. As a developer, I find it difficult to develop on the platform as there are limited resources and Microsoft official documentation lacks adequate coverage for edge case errors.

One challenge with the software is its initial setup and learning curve. New users may find it overwhelming to navigate the features and permissions. Additionally, customization beyond the basics can require technical expertise, which might mean involving IT support for certain configurations. Microsoft 365 Developer in a Small Business.

I would like more intuitive user interfaces and simplified navigation to improve the overall user experience. The absence of these in the software can significantly hinder the user experience. Users may find it challenging to locate and access the features and content they need, leading to frustration and reduced efficiency.

I also really dislike that when I want to share a “forced copy” of a document to a client, so the client can just make his/her own copy, I am unable to do so. I dislike the administration part due to it’s complexity. In large companies with lots of rules it is more difficult to organize the content in a proper manner. My only complaint in using the software is the frequency and speed of syncing, or rather lack there of. Often find syncing to be slow causing delays in remote project collaboration.

I used to love the software, but the changes are horrible. I’ll never understand “upgrading” a system, but taking away features that were useful and convenient to users. Who’s idea was it to allow people to be Site Owners, but not truly give them FULL CONTROL over THEIR site! And who came up with the genius idea to provide such limited and HIDEOUS color palettes?! It’s annoying AF that I can’t customize items in Calendar View.

The software has the ability to work well or not work well at all. At least you know when it’s not working it’s more than likely Microsoft. Also They suck@ ! Well to start the software sucks! The new update with the icons and you can see every user jumping around in list at the same is a a really bad feature. And when you double click on a row in a list, the body that pops up is much smaller than before. Today after the update it is locked to only 2 columns in width. Before it was 3- 4 columns wide and much more user friendly. This new list update is a huge disappointment for us.

It is clunky and loads a lot of directories within a single path making it hard to travel between spaces.

Every time more than 3 people are in it, I just don’t even mess with it because it’s not able to save my changes, I have to discard them, or sometimes I make my changes only to open it hours later and find nothing was saved. I can’t even work on it when other people are in it.

The historical problem with the software has been that it was too flexible, giving implementation teams too much scope to build overly complex solutions. This led to complaints of it being too difficult to upload documents or of finding them again in the future.

When I close the editing sidebar, the buttons double stack up, it doesn’t look right, and it shortens the description? This is plain silly, to give the option to add a description with a character limit that is longer than what will actually be displayed.
