Death anniversary of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, who unified Bhutan in the 17th century. Falls on 10th day of 4th lunar month.

Commemorates the death of Buddha and his attainment of Nirvana. Falls on 15th day of 4th lunar month.
July
Commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of Bhutan in 2008.
Also known as Drugpa Tshezhi. Commemorates Buddha's first sermon at Deer Park in Sarnath. Falls on 4th day of 6th lunar month.
September
Thruebab marks the end of monsoon season. All natural water is considered sanctifying for outdoor bathing to cleanse bad karma.
October
Hindu festival celebrated by the Lhotshampa community, especially in southern Bhutan. Victory of good over evil.
November
Commemorates the coronation of His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck in 2008.
December
Commemorates the establishment of the monarchy and crowning of the first King Ugyen Wangchuck in 1907.
Traditional winter solstice celebration marking the longest night and return of longer days.
