Creating a template in Tallyfy is straightforward. This lesson walks you through the process step by step.
Starting a New Template
- Click Templates in the left sidebar
- Click the + New Template button
- Choose your template type (Procedure, Form, or Document)
- Give your template a clear, descriptive name
Template Settings
Configure these essential settings:
- Name - Use clear, action-oriented names like "Employee Onboarding" or "Invoice Approval"
- Description - Explain when and why to use this template
- Folder - Organize templates into logical categories
- Permissions - Control who can view, edit, and launch
- Tags - Add keywords for easier searching
Adding Steps
Each step represents a task in your process:
- Click + Add Step
- Enter a clear step title (use action verbs: "Review application", "Approve request")
- Add detailed instructions in the description
- Set the step type (Task, Approval, Email, etc.)
- Assign who should complete this step
- Set a deadline (fixed date or relative to process start)
Step Assignment Options

Template Editing Tips
- Drag steps to reorder them
- Use rich text formatting in descriptions

- Preview the template before publishing
Pro Tip: Start simple. You can always add more steps and complexity later. Get the basic flow right first, then enhance.
