## Renaming a Tallyfy template

Rename any [template](https://tallyfy.com/products/pro/documenting/templates/) in Tallyfy using either the Settings panel or the pencil icon in the Edit view. Both methods open a rename dialog where you’ll type the new name and save.

Changes only affect future processes

Renaming a template doesn’t affect processes already running. The new name only applies to processes started *after* the rename.

**Method 1: Via the Settings panel**

1. Open the template in Edit mode.
2. Click **Settings** in the top toolbar.
3. Click the template name at the top of the settings panel.
4. Type the new name in the rename dialog and click **Save**.

**Method 2: Via the Edit view header**

1. Open the template in Edit mode.
2. Click the **pencil icon** next to the template name at the top of the editor.
3. Type the new name in the rename dialog and click **Save**.

Template names can’t exceed 250 characters.
